The Snead State Community College Media Club will sponsor a supply drive through Aug. 10. All donations received will go to the youth of Red Apple Baptist Church in Boaz. Donations may be made in drop boxes placed at the Student Union Building and McCain Center on the SSCC campus and at the Boaz Public Library, or Snead State Bookstore, located in the outlets across from the bowling alley.

The club will also accept gift cards to area stores, such as Wal-Mart and Walgreens, to use to fill unmet needs.

Beth Anderson, vice president of the Media Club, said the drive will help youth at the church.

“We, as parents, have been there and seen the list and done our best to make the budget stretch to buy all the supplies,” Anderson said.

Natalie Black, the club’s public relations person, said she is a Sunday School teacher at Red Apple and knows the needs of these families.

“It is a burden on my heart,” she said. “I’ve seen these children grow and change before my eyes. I know they need the help.”
